Vijay Singh....Missing in Action???

Is everybody ready to admit that Vijay has slipped back to the level of an ordinary golfer on tour? I don't think he'll be a threat to win week in and week out...in a nut shell, he'll never return to his 2004 form.

Any ideas????

He certainly hasn't been playing like his normal self. Then again, Tiger took a little time off as well and now it seems like he's back to his old self. We'll probably hear about how he is tweaking his swing, etc for the next few months. Then the real test will be if he can fix whatever is wrong.

If he started to make some 5 footers he'd be right there. I've never seen him miss so many. i think he has a case of the yips....

Vijay's putting seems bad but I just checked the stats and he is #29 with an average 1.725 putts per green. Tiger is #47 with 1.744 per green.

So why does it seem like Vijay's putting is poor. I watched him this past weekend and his putting SEEMS bad, the announcers keep saying his putting is bad, and he seems to think his putting is bad. Yet he sits at #29. Is his putting really that bad or is it just perception by the media?

By the way, here is the page I looked at:

putting stats are the most misleading I think.

Get up and down a lot, and lower your stat.

hit greens with little accuracy...they go up.

vj is 11th in GIR, Tiger is 2nd, Verplank leading putter is 111th in GIR!

But I think VJ's problem is mainly that he is missing more putts in the 4 to 6' range than before, and his short game is not giving him too many gimmes.

Looking at the stats some more. In the top 50 putters only 4 players are also in the top ten for GIR....Mickelson, toms, byrd, and woods

I hadn't thought of missing greens actually helping your putting stats. These guys get up and down from trash cans. Hit it in the crap, then chip or pitch to 2 feet....bingo...another 1 putt green. Tough to get many birdies this way, but the putt stats are stellar.

Why dis Vijay abandon the belly putter? To me he seemed more confident and his stroke had much better tempo.
