Rep Power: 10  | U.S.-European team to take on internationals in China NEWPORT, Wales -- Europe and the United States will combine for the first time when a new golf team event, the Goodwill Trophy, is staged in China in November. Eight-time European No. 1 Colin Montgomerie is to be playing-captain of an eight-man team including players from the European and American 2006 Ryder Cup teams. They will play an international side drawn from the rest of the world and led by South African Retief Goosen. The format for the match, which will take place Nov. 13-14 on the Nicklaus course at Mission Hills, Shenzhen, will be foursomes on day one and singles to finish. Celtic Manor, where the tournament was announced on Friday during the Wales Open, will host the Goodwill Trophy in autumn 2007. |
