Marking Ball In Match Play ?

In match play, can you ask your opponent to not mark his ball if it is on the green and near the hole, thinking if you hit his ball, it might help you stay closer to the hole? Of course he gets to replace his ball, but you might be benifited. Or does he automatically get to mark his ball if he chooses? Bones

I think it is his choice, but asking couldn't hurt

I pretty sure that you can ask your opponent to mark their ball when ever it is in your way.

Rule 22

Requiring Opponent or Fellow-Competitor to Leave Ball to Assist Play

Q. Is it permissible to request an opponent or fellow-competitor to leave his ball close to the hole in case it will assist my play?

A. There is nothing in the Rules that prohibits a player from making such a request. However, if the opponent or fellow-competitor feels the ball may assist your play, he does have the right to lift his ball, and may not be denied this right.

Never thought of that, but then again why would you aim for the ball instead of the hole? I mean I guess just incase your off by a little.
