Golf Ball Rules

Is there a rule that says I have to use one ball type/brand for my entire round? Or, for instance, can I use a Callaway Warbird for a long, straight par 4 and then switch to a HX Blue ball for a short par 3?
I hope that makes sense...

From what I know (and i may be wrong), you can use only one type of ball for a round. This is to prevent a player from using a Pinnecle low spin distance ball on a par 5 (or a Pro V1x) and then using a Pro V1 or high spin/soft ball on par 3s.. Or in your example, using a Warbird and HX Blue to take advantage of the characteristics for a certain hole.

Obviously, this is for tournament play and competitive golf (like PGA players).

I always heard that if you start a hole with a ball then you had to finish with that same ball.

For example you cannot hit a distance ball off the tee and then a high spin ball for the approach.

Anytime I hit over water, I swap out my ball for one I've found. If it makes it across, I'll swap it back. I don't play for money, I don't expect you to hit out from under a cactus, so don't try to penalize me for moving it either.

A guy I "used" to play with did that before too. He hit a rock hard Top Flight and then would swap out at the putting green. I say play with the same ball you start out with..it's the rules anyway..I believe pros can switch to another ball after 3 or 4 holes but has to be the same model.

One ball rule. Ok here you go:

You have to finish the hole you are playing with the ball you started with unless (a) you lose it or (a)you deem it unplayable. If you do opition (b) you have to show the ball to your playing partner before you take the ball out of play. Now I am not 100% sure if you can switch brands/type of ball on a hole. So youi can not use a beat up Pro-V1 from the tee box to the green then switch to a new Pro-V1 once you reach the green.

Unless you are playing in a tournament in which the SAME BALL rule is in effect, you can switch brands/type of ball on ever hole.

So if you and your buddies are playing and you use a Pro-V1 on the first 6 holes then come to a water hole and switch to a Top-Flite, that is LEGAL to do so.
