Tigers New Ball Legal or Illegal ?

Its been reported that Tiger has been using a new ball this year designed by his own personal ball designer to be called the Nike Platinum.

I've seen discussion of this new ball but have never seen a good answer as to its being an approved USGA conforming ball.

What is at question is that it is labeled as a Nike One Gold but is in fact the Nike Platinum in disquise. Nike has mislabeled it so the Daryl Survey people wouldn't know he was using a new ball.

I've looked at the USGA conforming list but don't see the Platinum listed. Is this a violation or does the PGA Tour have different rules regarding legal equipment?

It wasn't long ago Jeff Sluman was Dq'ed for using some prov1's without any label.

How can you play a non conforming ball with a conforming label?

Okay will all of you tiger Haters please stand up and finally recognize that he is just simply better than the rest of the tour golfers period.
And because he's black and dominating a majority white sport he will always get this type of scrunity.
Does anyone ever question Phil's

Exactly, you're correct. Tiger (and the people that surround him) wouldn't be stupid enough to let him walk onto a course in a tournament using something that could be deemed as illegal. It just wouldn't happen when he is under the microscope so often.

Nor would Floyd Landis? Or Michael Schumacher? When you're at the top, someone is always trying to climb the hill.

Yugolf, I don't think this is about race.
