Persimmons

Who still has their old persimmons?

I've still got my set of Hogan Apex woods 1,3,4,5. Took them out to the local muni a few weeks back for a lark.

Love the sound, but new technology is so much better....about 15 to 20 yds if not more in some cases.

The sound is so much sweeter though!

You're saying that the sound is sweeter on the old technology or the new technology? I can tell you that I've never heard a sweeter sound in my life than when I hit my G2 driver perfectly. Mind you that's not very often but that one time it happens it makes the whole day for me. 300+ yards, dead straight, and the awe of the crowd not because its a phenomenal drive, but because they're surprised that I hit it. lol

SWFlaGolfer, you haven't heard a sweeter sound because you haven't hit a solid persimmon club on the screws in a long time. Vinny is right, you lose a good amount of distance but the sound, and I think the feel of persimmon is much better. Its like a the crack of a wood baseball bat compared to an aluminum bat.

I have a Louisville Golf Smart driver with a regular flex graphite shaft.

I didn't use it at all last season, but I might put it back in my pag this year because I can hit it down the middle more often than my Callaway. I definitely lose distance, but I usually use my 3 wood off of the tee anyway.

Gateway has seen me hit my maple laminate 5 wood. That is my money club.

I've never hit a Persimmon club. Are you saying I need to go out and spend more money to get one? Man this sport is expensive!

He's better with his 5 wood off the deck than his driver off the teebox. He's an enigma.

they practically give them away, but you could also try an old taylor made burner plus. It's like hitting a ball with another slightly bigger ball.
