| I wish I had the nerve to try one. A long time ago I putted with the Pelz three ball putter. It was ugly squared. It did a nice job of alignment to the target. The USGA made it illegal and that was the end of my experience with it.
I was in the golf store the other day and they had a Scotty Cameron that was as big as a frying pan, and a blue Ping thing that was almost as big. I guess in my case I just can't bring myself to swing a crock pot. I use a Ping Zing 2 that I have had for 15 years. I tried a lot of putters over the years, (blades, zebras, long shafted, anser, etc), but I always picked up the Zing if I was going to play a tournament or an important round.
Has anyone actually quantified that these big-ass putters are better than what they were using. Something like an "A" and "B" test where one takes 20 strokes from a certain distance with "A", then takes 20 putts from the exact same spot with "B"? When I was trying putters before, I tried to be as objective as possible. It always seemed like I was hot with the new putter for a few rounds then the magic faded. The last putter I tested against my Zing was a tie so I left the Zing in the bag.
I might be a bit too anal-retentive for this game. LOL!!! |
