| When I'm playing well, my flight is dead straight. Being self-taught, I learned everything in the mindset of "do it right," which doesn't allow for people's natural tendencies to swing one way or another. Biggest change lately, though, was a comment I heard Johnny Miller make. He said the proper way to shape the ball is to hit it squarely and impart the spin you want while the ball is compressed on the clubface. If you're swinging out-to-in or vice versa, the ball is actually sliding on your clubface, not being hit square. That made a lot of sense to me, so I've really been practicing swinging square all the time. |
