Favorite Golf Time

What is your favorite time to play golf ?
Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings ?

I like morning golf the most, but afternoons are not bad from time to time.

Summertime is obviously my favorite season, living in the midwest spring/fall and sometimes summer doesn't always yield perfect golf weather. Espacially since I really dislike cold weather, which is a frequent here in the midwest.

A buddy and me used to get the first tee time (6:05) at this one course, just after sunrise. Even in the middle of summer, we'd be off the course before the heat came, around 8:30-8:45. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, that place started becoming mobbed and the service just got to be awful. Now, we usually take in a 4:00pm round.

Wind is the enemy here in West Texas. It is not unusual to play in sustained wind of 25-30mph. So one of my favorite times to play is after 6:00pm. The wind almost always begins to die down about 6:00.

So, I leave work at 5:30, change clothes at the clubhouse, and hit the ball at 6:00. It's never crowded and it's just beautiful. I can usually get 10-12 holes in before dark. Watching the sun set in West Texas, and on the new Doak designed Rawls Course

is almost religious.....

Praise golf!!!

I always try to get started early. I'm usually the first one out at the local club on the weekends. That way by the time the winds pick up and it starts to get hot, we are just finishing up and ready to leave.
