Anyone use "pured" or "spined" shafts?

I'm getting into clubmaking a little (ok, only done grips so far) and am considering reshafting my driver (975D, 9.5). I hit it well and love the (relatively) smaller size but suffer from some inconsistency. I was considering goin' balls out and getting a Grafalloy Prototype Comp NT and getting it "pured." Anyone have actual experience with this process?

For those who don't know, the short version is that each shaft has an ideal "axis" around which its flex is much more consistent. "Puring" or "spining" involves lining up this axis in a specific relation the clubhead to achieve more consistent kick. Or something like that.....
