Golf In HD

Recently got a LCDTV that supports HD 1080i etc. I have 15 channels of HD via Dish Network, but no one ever plays Golf in HD. ESPNHD shows replays, but the actual broadcasts are not in HD... What gives? all the other major sports are, but golf isn't thats kind of a shame.

Terrible, they are still not in HD. The Dubai open should at least be in HD. ESPN is slacking!

I know that I have seen an event in HD. I think that the Masters was in HD last year, but not all of the cameras.

That's really sad... every event should be in HD, just like every football and basketball game!

My guess is that it would just be too expensive to have each feed on the course running HD. The cameras aren't cheap, let alone the bandwidth it would take to shoot all camera's HD feeds back to the editing booth for mixing. Not to say they don't have the money for it, but if they can't jack the advertising rates accordingly they probably aren't going to bother.

I'm not sure with dish network but with directv you need a separate HD antena to get the local's in HD or the Big 5.
