So do you really want to win the Ryder Cup ?

Americans missed an opportunity this week . Next year's Ryder Cup venure hosted the European Open. With a prize pot of $4 mill , the money on offer may not have been as much as the Western Open, but it was still worth playing for.The guy in twentieth place won $40,000 ,as opposed to $50,000 at the Western Open. Next week is the Scottish Open ,with another $4 mill on offer, followed by the Open. A significant number of slots for the Open are available at the two events.

I'm suprised that only Lehman bothered to play the event. A final winning score of 3 under shows the course has some teeth. Goosen,Campbell, Montgomerie Poulter McGinley Clarke Harrington and Westwood were all in the field , along with Davis and Owen , so there was some quality around.

Great opportunity to play the course wasted.
